Board

The role of the Board is to make policies towards good corporate governance and enhance the performance of the Bank. The structure of the Board consists of the Chairman and his two vice chairmen, the Secretary and other Directors. The Shareholders at an Annual General Meeting elect the Board members. Once a year the Board holds Annual General Meeting to account for its stewardship to the entire shareholders.

Nana Awuah Darko Ampem I (deceased) a Chartered Insurer was the first Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank. He was a key promoter of the Bank and a member of the Interim Management Committee. He became the Chairman of the Bank from 25th October 1984 up to 27th December 2005. He was the founder and the Chairman of the Management Board of Vanguard Assurance Group of companies, Ghana Leasing Company Ltd.

Currently, the Board of Juaben Rural Bank is headed by Lawyer Kwabena Appiagyei Asante Krobea, an astute professional Lawyer who has over eighteen years professional experience in the field of Law practice. He became the Board Chairman in 2005. He is ably assisted by   Nana Appiagyei Danka-Woso, 1st Vice Chairman (Insurer), Nana Owusu-Poku, 2nd Vice Chairman (Retired Banker), Mr. Kwabena Mpeso Asomaning (Accountant), Lawyer Isaac Kwasi Obeng (Legal Practitioner), Mr. Stephen Acheampong (Tutor), Nana Yaw Sarpong Siriboe (Engineer) and Mr. Kwaku Minka Fordjour (Agriculturist).

KWABENA APPIADJEI ASANTE-KROBEA is a Lawyer of 23 years standing.  Currently he is the Managing Partner of Asante-Krobea, Sekyere & Associates, a bustling Law Firm based in Kumasi.Lawyer Asante-Krobea was the National Assistant Secretary of the Ghana Bar Association from 2008-2012 and by that became a member of the General Council of Ghana Bar Association.  He is a devout Christian and is a Synod Member of the Kumasi Diocese of Methodist Church Ghana.

Nana holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Dayspring University in the United States of America and an EMBA (Financial Management) from the GIMPA Business School. Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I is Okyeame to Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben Traditional Area.Nana joined the Board in 2008 and chairs the Finance/Administration and Human Resource Committee of the Board. Nana Owusu-Poku, a retired Banker, had his elementary education at the Koforidua Methodist School and proceeded to St. John’s Secondary School at Effiduasi-Koforidua. Nana Owusu-Poku is Okyeame to Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben Traditional Area.Nana joined the Bank in 2008. Currently, he chairs the Credit Committee of the Board.Nana Owusu-Poku worked with the then Ghana Commercial Bank for fourteen (14) years before he resigned and travelled to the United States of America.

Lawyer I. K. Obeng holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and is also a Barrister-at-Law from University of Ghana, Legon and the Ghana School of Law respectively.Lawyer Obeng joined the Board in 2009. He serves on the Finance/Administration and Human Resource Committee of the Board.  He worked with the Ghana Diplomatic Service where he served in Ghana’s Diplomatic Missions in Paris in France, Monrovia-Liberia, Algiers in Algeria, and Abidjan in the Ivory Coast.

Mr. Asomaning holds an Inter Association of International Accountants.He joined the Board in October 1987 and has served in several capacities including the Vice Chairman of the Board. Currently, Mr. Asomaning chairs the Audit Committee of the Board.He worked with the Logs and Lumber Limited in Kumasi as an Accountant for eighteen years until he retired from active service in 2014.

Nana Yaw holds a Masters in Business Administration (Logistics and Supply) from the KNUST, Diploma in Human Resource Management in Financial Management from ICM, Bournemouth, England and a Bsc. Mechanical Engineering from the KNUST. He joined the Board in 2011 and currently serves on the ICT Committee of the Board.Currently, Nana Yaw works with Juaben Oil Mills Ltd. as the Supply Chain Manager.

Mr. Acheampong is an Affiliate professional from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He also holds an MBA in Marketing from the Lawrence Technologies University, Southfield Michigan- USA. He joined the Board in 2011 and currently chairs the ICT Committee of the Board. He is a lecturer at the Ghana Baptist University College in Kumasi. He is the owner of the Holy Technologies Ghana Ltd. which among other things published the popular Archie Series used in Senior High Schools. He had worked with the Staples Inc. in the USA as sales Associate.

Mr. Fordjour is a holder Agribusiness Management Professional, AABS –AgMP,  EMBA, Graduate Diploma in Agriculture Administration as well as Bsc Agriculture. He joined the Board in 2013 and currently serves on the Finance/Administration and Human Resource Committee of the Board. Currently, he is the Regional Director of Agriculture for the Ashanti Region. Before this enviable position, he had served as District Director of Agriculture for the Akuapem South District and a Regional Agricultural Extension Officer.

Holder of an Association of International Bankers (AIB) Certificate and beneficiary of various courses at GIMPA and the National Banking College Ghana, Noble Agyei-Poku was formerly trained as a Teacher with 3 year Post-Secondary Certificate “A” Noble Agyei-Poku joined the Bank on 1st August, 1995 as an Accountant, after a thirteen-year dedicated service with Kumawuman Rural Bank Ltd.

Ms. Dua-Boateng joined the Bank in 1985 as a clerk and by dint of hard work has risen through the ranks and now holds the position of Manager.  She has the enviable record of being the longest serving staff (30 years). Due to her rich experience in the rural banking fraternity, she was co-opted to the Board on 1st August, 2014.Ms. Dua-Boateng is an A-Level holder and now in charge of the management and administration of the Ejisu Agency of the Bank. The various banking courses she has attended at the Banking College and GIMPA has added to her rich experience and understanding of the industry.

Mr. Ewusi-Wilson joined the Bank in 2005 as a Senior Project Officer. He holds an MBA in Banking and Finance and B.A in Economics. Since he was promoted to the position of Manager/Head Credits in 2007, he has performed creditably to the admiration of all. He is well noted for his credible financial advice to customers. Mr. Ewusi-Wilson was co-opted to the Board on 1st August, 2014 due to his over thirteen years experience in the rural/community bank industry.
